Private Member Groups & Channel Access Control

How to create and manage “Member Groups” and assign them to specific channels. Only members of assigned private groups can access those channels, enabling exclusive, member-only experiences and enhanced content security.

If you would like to create channels of content that are accessible only to certain registered members (i.e., a private channel), you can do this by creating and managing Member Groups and then assigning one or more Member Groups to any channel in your account. Easily add/remove members to your Member Groups then assign to desired channels. You can have unlimited Member Groups and assign one or more Member Groups to any channel.

💡 Pro Tip: Member Groups cannot be assigned to channels behind a subscription paywall (i.e., "Members with Subscriptions").

Assign Member Groups to a Channel

Once you have created your Member Group(s), you can easily assign them to any channel in your account.

  1. Go to a Channel form Media > Channels > [Select Channel] > Edit "Available For".
    Channel Form Add Member Group
  2. Choose Members from Groups from the dropdown.
  3. Select the desired Group(s) from your Member Groups list.
  4. You can also create a new Member Group on the fly here by clicking Create a New One then you can manage members in your new group later as described above.
  5. Once this is updated, this channel will only be accessible to the specific members assigned to the assigned group, upon login, anywhere this channel is published (website or apps). All other members will be restricted from accessing content in this "member group only" channel.

Using the Member Group access feature is a great way to publish controlled-access channels of exclusive, instructional, or informational content only available to a defined group of your members.
