# Organize your Content Library by Category
## Add your content to one or more categories to make your videos more easily discoverable for your viewers and create category lists and landing pages.
### **Categories**
Create as many Categories as you like and add multiple categories to media items, series, and channels. (Note: Think of categories as “genre” (e.g., drama), subject matter (e.g., politics), or other ways to create a predetermined search filter to make content more easily discoverable by your viewers. Categories are not channels.)
1. Add **Category** by clicking **Add New** on the **Media > Categories** page.
1. **Name** is mandatory.
2. Add optional **Images** for your Category landing pages and Category lists if you use them. (if no image is uploaded, your App default images will be used if needed)
3. Add **Description** for SEO purposes.
4. **System Tags** are optional and mainly used internally to create lists by system tags.
2. Edit **Category** by clicking on the category name on the **Categories** page and clicking edit. Click **Update** to save changes.
> 💡 **Pro Tip** - If you are using our **Member Uploads** system, you can select the **Categories** that are available for members to upload their content into by selecting the **Allow Member Uploads** button in the **Category** edit page.
Once you have your Categories set up, you can assign one or more Categories to any/all of your individual **Media Items** (including VOD and Live) or **Series**. You can select multiple media items on your main media list page and mass add selected items to a Category.
