Ad Platforms Supported by Endavo

Ad Platforms need to be able to generate a VAST or VPAID tag in order to be programmed into the Endavo platform to run ads on your OTT Channel site and apps.

Many major ad platforms and ad servers support VAST (Video Ad Serving Template) and, to a lesser extent these days, VPAID (Video Player-Ad Interface Definition) tags. Here's a breakdown of platforms that typically use these formats:

Platforms that Support VAST (widely adopted)

VAST is the industry standard for video ad serving and is supported by nearly all video ad platforms:

Ad Servers & SSPs (Supply-Side Platforms)

  • Google Ad Manager (GAM) — Full VAST support (also offers its own video ad tags).

  • SpringServe — VAST-compliant ad server focused on video.

  • SpotX (now part of Magnite) — Supports VAST for video ad delivery.

  • FreeWheel (Comcast) — Strong VAST support, common in premium content delivery.

  • Beachfront — VAST-based video ad monetization.

  • Tremor Video — Supports VAST, especially for CTV and mobile.

  • Unruly — Supports VAST for both desktop and CTV.

  • Publica (by IAS) — VAST/VPAID support for CTV monetization.

  • JW Player (monetization suite) — Accepts VAST ad tags.

  • Yahoo DSP — Supports VAST tag delivery.

DSPs (Demand-Side Platforms)

Most DSPs allow you to run video campaigns using third-party VAST tags, including:

  • The Trade Desk

  • Google Display & Video 360 (DV360)

  • MediaMath

  • Adobe Advertising Cloud

  • Amobee

  • Xandr (formerly AppNexus)

⚠️ Platforms that Still Use VPAID (declining usage)

VPAID (especially VPAID JS) is being deprecated in most environments, particularly CTV, due to security, performance, and transparency issues. However, some platforms still use or allow it for certain desktop or mobile environments:

  • Google Ad ManagerLimited VPAID support, mostly deprecated.

  • SpotX (Magnite) — Supports VPAID for web-based players (deprecated for CTV).

  • SpringServe — Still offers VPAID for specific use cases.

  • Brightcove — Can run VPAID creatives on compatible players.

  • JW Player — Supports VPAID in web environments but recommends migrating to VAST + OM SDK or SIMID.

  • Verizon Media (Yahoo) — Previously supported, now mostly moved to VAST.

📺 VAST/VPAID in CTV/OTT

  • CTV platforms (Roku, Fire TV, Samsung, LG) require VAST, and do not support VPAID.

  • VPAID has been replaced by:

    • OM SDK (Open Measurement SDK for mobile and web)

    • SIMID (Secure Interactive Media Interface Definition — next-gen interactive ad format)

💡 Summary

Platform Type VAST VPAID
Google Ad Manager ⚠️ Deprecated
SpringServe ⚠️ Web only
SpotX / Magnite ⚠️ Web only
FreeWheel ❌ Not recommended
Brightcove / JW Player ⚠️ Some web
Trade Desk / DV360
CTV Platforms (e.g. Roku, LG) ❌ Not supported

If you're working in CTV or OTT, you should stick with VAST 4.x (with support for tracking, skippable ads, and OM SDK) and move away from VPAID.
